Imperial Hotel Kyoto is set to open on March 5, 2026.

Imperial Hotel, Ltd. has announced the grand opening of Imperial Hotel Kyoto (570-2 Gionmachi Minamigawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto) for March 5, 2026. In conjunction with the announcement, reservations will open at 11:00 AM (JST) on November 17, 2025. Members of the Imperial Club will have early access to reservations starting at 11:00 AM (JST) on November 11, 2025.

This small luxury hotel is built on the grounds of the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theatre, preserving and repurposing a portion of the historic Yasaka Kaikan Hall, a nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property. The hotel's 55 guest rooms are spread across three distinct architectural areas: the Main Building, the Preserved Main Building Area (within Yasaka Kaikan), and the North Building.

The rooms are offered in five categories: Signature Suites (110–193m2), Suites (101–104m2), Junior Suites (65–100m2), Grand Premier rooms (57–71m2), and Premier rooms (50–58m2).

Guest rooms in the Preserved Main Building Area retain original architectural features from the Yasaka Kaikan era, such as pillars and window frames. Meanwhile, rooms in the newly constructed North Building, designed to harmonize with the Gion streetscape, will be the first in the Imperial Hotel brand to feature traditional tatami mat flooring. This approach aims to provide guests with a stay steeped in the history and charm of Gion, allowing them to experience the essence of Japanese traditional beauty. The hotel will also feature a restaurant, a bar, and wellness facilities, including a spa, swimming pool, and fitness center.

A suite in the Preserved Main Building Area. The design incorporates original architectural features of Yasaka Kaikan, such as window frames and pillars, into a sophisticated and luxurious modern guest room.
A Junior Suite with a balcony. Rooms in the Main Building offer views of the Kyoto mountains, while those in the Preserved Main Building Area provide an up-close view of the grand roof of the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theatre.
A Grand Premier/Premier room in the North Building, featuring the Imperial Hotel brand's first-ever use of tatami mat flooring.
