New Overnight Direct Bus to Mt. Fuji 5th Station from Shinjuku. Beat the Crowds with an Early Morning Start for a Chance to See the Sunrise and Sea of Clouds.

Operating from July 3 to September 9, 2026.
A new overnight direct bus on the "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line" connects the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (Busta Shinjuku) to the Yoshida Trailhead, the primary gateway for climbing Mt. Fuji.

Fujikyu Bus has announced a new overnight direct service (No. 1475) for its "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line," an expressway bus route connecting the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (Busta Shinjuku) with the Mt. Fuji 5th Station (Yoshida Trailhead). The service will operate from July 3 to September 9.

The bus departs from Busta Shinjuku at 11:25 PM and arrives at the Mt. Fuji 5th Station at 2:00 AM the following morning. The one-way fare is 5,800 yen when purchasing tickets at the counter or a convenience store. A discounted "Web-wari" fare of 5,500 yen is available for advance online payments by credit card via the "Highwaybus.com" reservation website.

This new service is designed to ease congestion during the busy Mt. Fuji climbing season by helping to spread out climber start times. It also caters to the growing demand for early morning ascents. Previously, climbers from the Tokyo metropolitan area wanting to start early often had to arrange overnight accommodations near the mountain or make several transfers. This new overnight bus allows for direct, transfer-free access using only public transport.

Passengers can start their climb in the early morning when the trails are less crowded. The service also provides a great opportunity to witness the spectacular "goraiko" (sunrise from the mountain) and a majestic sea of clouds from the popular Yoshida Trail.

During an early morning ascent on the Yoshida Trail, climbers may be able to witness a breathtaking sunrise and a vast sea of clouds, even before reaching the summit.
