LUCUA SOUTH Opens at Osaka Station! Pokémon, ONE PIECE & Sanrio Character Shops Meet Japanese Gourmet Delights

Opening April 5, 2026
LUCUA SOUTH, with direct access from JR Osaka Station, will open on April 5. The list of stores for the first phase has been unveiled.

JR West SC Development, the operator of LUCUA Osaka, has announced that its new wing, "LUCUA SOUTH" (3-1-1 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka), will open on April 5, 2026.

The new wing will occupy the 10th to 16th floors of the South Gate Building, which is directly connected to JR Osaka Station and is currently undergoing a large-scale renewal in collaboration with JR West Station City and Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores. This will establish a three-building complex comprising "LUCUA," "LUCUA 1100," and the new "LUCUA SOUTH."

The project has been expanded from its original plan, which envisioned using floors 10-15. It has now been decided that the 16th floor, currently operating as "Osaka Ekiue Dining Ichiroku Gourmet," will be taken over from JR West Station City and integrated into LUCUA SOUTH. The April 5 opening will serve as the first phase, featuring 34 continuing stores on floors 13-16. The second phase is scheduled for Autumn 2026, with the launch of 29 new stores. Following this, a series of phased renovations and new store introductions will lead to a full grand opening in 2027.

List of Stores Opening in the New "LUCUA SOUTH" Wing (April 5, 2026 Opening)

The new "LUCUA SOUTH" will be built around two main pillars: "LUCUA Characters' World" (Floors 10-13), one of Japan's largest zones dedicated to character goods, and "LUCUA SOUTH DINING" (Floors 14-16), a diverse restaurant zone. The strategy aims to encourage existing customers to explore the entire complex, while also attracting a wider range of age groups and first-time visitors. The total floor area will be approximately 35,000m2, with about 20,000m2 of retail space.

LUCUA Characters' World

In the first phase, five popular stores currently operating in the adjacent Daimaru Umeda department store will continue in the new wing, including the "Pokémon Center Osaka," "Nintendo OSAKA," and the "ONE PIECE Mugiwara Store."

In the second phase, set for Autumn 2026, 29 new character shops will be added. These will include major brands such as "Sanrio," "Narumiya Happy Park," "Square Enix Official Goods Shop," and "Everything Minecraft."

Following further phased renovations, the zone is planned to feature a lineup of over 40 stores by 2027, becoming one of Japan's largest hubs for beloved domestic and international character content.

LUCUA SOUTH DINING

The first phase will see 28 existing eateries from Daimaru Umeda and Ichiroku Gourmet continue operations, offering a variety of cuisines including Japanese, Western, and Chinese, as well as cafes and sweet shops. For example, there are restaurants serving sushi, yakiniku, ramen, eel, shabu-shabu, tonkatsu, tempura, and more.

By 2027, new restaurants targeting families will open, primarily on the 14th and 15th floors. This will complete the gourmet zone, which will comprise over 35 establishments suitable for everything from daily dining to special occasions.
